Privacy and Information Security

Overview

Privacy is not just about being private; it’s about information security and autonomy in the information age. I take a lot of care with the information you provide me. I will also be as transparent as possible with exactly how I am doing that.

The internet is inherently an insecure medium, and nothing transferred online can be guaranteed to be safe. With that in mind, I do my best to use a small number of well-respected services to carry out my work with you.

In short: I trade in products, services, ideas, and exciting possibilities, not personal information. My business model leans heavily on integrity, trust, and openness. As much as possible in this day and age, I will keep your information secure and use it for the purposes for which you have consented. Here’s how:

Use of Website Services

I will do my best to not ask for any information that is not required to provide the services that you have opted-in to.

The information I collect may include:
  • Email address – To register your account, for communication regarding products, services, events.
  • Payment information – To process payments for goods and services
  • Address, phone number, or other information – for physical products that will be shipped
  • Other information may be volunteered by you but is not required for our conducting business. I consider this information strictly to keep in touch with you and give you the best experience possible, not as a commodity in itself. You should at all times know exactly what information you are
Information Sharing

I do not sell your information to third parties. Some information is exchanged in the course of business with my service providers. Each has its own privacy and security situation:

  • The information you enter on physical orders will be shared with delivery services (varies by location). Physical books will be printed by Lulu.
  • I primarily use Kajabi, which has a native payments feature as well as integrations with Stripe and Paypal, which may in turn be able to accept credit cards and other payments.
  • Personal emails are handled through a Protonmail account, and group emails are handled through the Kajabi mailing service.
  • All of these services have their own standards for encryption and privacy. I do not handle secure payment information personally, which is for the best, as they are global giants with information security divisions and I have a counselling degree and 3 really good card tricks.

I may further share information as required by law. I can’t imagine why law enforcement would be interested in snooping on wizards, but you never know. In this unlikely case, I would only comply to the minimum extent required by law.

Accessibility

Anyone who wants to access my services but has a need for privacy or security beyond what is offered through the above technology can contact me through my email account (hosted through Proton). That includes those who may need an alternate platform to access content or would rather pay another way such as e-transfer, cash, trade, or cryptocurrency.
